Distribution Services Representative (Correctional) - UNICOR

Incumbent is responsible for the Distribution Center's daily operations and workflow processes as determined by each service contract, which may include sorting and packaging operations, product kit assembly, merchandise distribution, and bulk document mass mailing. Incumbent evaluates contracts upon receipt, to determine what tools, machinery, and package products will be needed for the job. Organizes and schedules the assembly, packaging, and shipping operations to ensure delivery which effectively meets customers' requirements. Reviews incoming orders and establishes priorities and deadlines to ensure timely completion of orders. Assigns the work to inmate workers and provides guidance to ensure specifications and identified deadlines are met based on each individual contract. Orders and receives adequate amounts of appropriate finished goods to maintain level of all necessary materials to ensure that no delays occur in scheduled work. The incumbent reviews outgoing orders for proper content, labeling, postal markings, and packaging. Performs related administrative duties such as providing production and inventory data for various reports. Works closely with the customer's liaison to coordinate or resolve day to day production issues. Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staff correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and are performed on a regular and recurring basis. To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualification requirements:
Education:
As a general rule, education is not creditable above GS-5 for most positions covered by this standard; however, graduate education may be credited in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position. OR
Experience:
You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level in federal service. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the qualifications to perform successfully the duties of the position, and must typically be in or related to the position to be filled. Some examples of this qualifying experience are:
Experience evaluating contracts to determine tools, machinery, and package products required to fulfill customers' requirements. Experience scheduling and coordinating production efforts among several distribution projects in order to meet deadlines and effectively utilize manpower, materials and equipment. Experience analyzing and resolving deviations from normal supply procedures, and developing and applying guidelines to ensure reliable and accurate inventory data. Credit will be given for paid and unpaid experience. To receive proper credit, you must show the actual time (such as the number of hours worked per week) spent in activities. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
